Hear from members of the ABC Framers Council

The following are a few of the things that the council has accomplished:

  • The ABC/WW Framers Council developed standardized terms and conditions for use in bidding and subcontracts for framing. An ABC member attorney reviewed the documents pro bono.

  • Engineered Lumber Products, Delivery Package, Standard Contents. In cooperation with general contractors and I-joist suppliers, the ABC Framers Council has established standards with the hope of reducing misunderstandings and increasing efficiency on the job site. This standard has changed the way pre-engineered products are packaged and delivered to ABC framing contractors, minimizing waste.

  • The ABC/WW Framers Council brought nail manufacturers, suppliers and engineers together and developed some basic framer-friendly nail terminology in order to help with the nail identification issue.

  • By meeting regularly with the state Department of Labor and Industries’ and safety & health consultants, the relationships have greatly improved. When the department put an enforcement emphasis on framing contractors, they worked with the council as partners to improve job site safety, not as enforcement adversaries.

  • The ABC/WW Framers Council continues to work with community service partners such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation building play systems and playhouses for terminally ill children and Habitat for Humanity building homes for low income families.

  • Currently, we are working with engineers, suppliers and other council members to develop a standardized shear wall call out.
