April 28th was the night ABC of Western Washington celebrated the “best of the best” in the merit shop construction industry, awarding 11 Excellence in Construction Awards to deserving project teams. The revamped Awards Showcase took place at the Spirit of Washington Event Center and was a huge hit with those in attendance. Everyone mingled, snacked on appetizers and learned about the different projects from the winning teams themselves in a tradeshow-like format.
People really enjoyed having the opportunity to speak face-to-face with each other, while looking at the project photos and binders. The honorable mention projects were also highlighted in the center of the room, and garnered nearly as much attention as the winners. After the opening reception and showcase, guests were seated and enjoyed dinner before each of the winning teams were brought up on stage to be recognized and receive their trophy.
The winning projects were selected by a panel of distinguished judges. They spent hours poring over each entry, then deliberated which projects rose above the rest. The judges were:
