ABC is an active advocate of free enterprise, smaller more efficient government and a level playing field at all levels of government. ABC of Western Washington has three lobbyists dealing with state issues in Olympia and a coordinator in the Bellevue office. ABC is represented on the state's Prevailing Wage Advisory Committee. In addition, ABC is represented on the Executive Committee of the Washington Construction Industry Council, the coalition that coordinates lobbying on construction issues statewide.
ABC is interested in many of the issues that affect construction and small business in general, such as workers comp and safety, unemployment insurance, tax reform and contracting out. However, ABC takes the lead on issues that impact having open markets and level playing fields for all contractors such as apprenticeship reform, prevailing wage reform and project labor agreements.
| The 2010 ABC Vote Record is now available. It is designed to recognize legislators who continue to both support and oppose free enterprise in the construction industry. Members of the Washington State Senate, House of Representatives select committees are graded based on their votes on key construction industry and general business bills in the 2009 and 2010 legislative sessions. Included are bios on the ABC team working on your behalf in Olympia, bill descriptions, Champions of Free Enterprise (legislators with a 100% ABC voting record), and actual vote results. For a hard copy of the vote record, or if you have any questions, please contact Vice President of Government and Labor Affairs Aran Buchan at 800.640.7789. |
