GREEN BITES: ENERGY CONSERVATION (01/01/2010)

The ABC Green Council wrapped up the year with an energy conservation roundtable. Representatives from Seattle City Light and Puget Sound Energy spoke about programs and rebates each utility offers.

Since 1977 Seattle City Light has been committed to conservation as its highest-priority, most cost-effective, environmentally-friendly energy resource. Seattle City Light offers a program called Energy Smart Services that provides financial incentives and technical assistance to businesses served by Seattle City Light to encourage the use of advanced energy conservation technologies. Seattle City Light also offers a program called the Emerald Trade Ally network for companies who are in the energy conservation or renewable energy business. This network invited participating organizations to specialized training programs and provides information on Seattle City Light programs. For more information go to www.seattle.gov/tradeally.

Puget Sound Energy, WashingtonState’s oldest and largest energy utility, meets the energy needs of its growing customer base through incremental, cost-effective energy conservation, procurement of sustainable energy resources and far-sighted investment in the energy delivery infrastructure. PSE offers many different programs for rebates ranging from small-business lighting, high-efficiency HVAC retrofits and business energy management rebates and grants to PSE’s prescriptive program for designing every efficient project in a whole building approach.
