ABC's Young Professionals Group hosted its first-ever Power Play Game Night on May 6th at Lucky Strike in Bellevue. Attendees had a blast networking and playing games. Some arcade favorites were the car racing game with to-scale Ferrari rear-ends, a ‘Mission Impossible’-like Laser Maze, and several sporting games allowing you to shoot and throw balls. Initiative 1082 would create a private option in Washington’s workers’ compensation program. It’s called a “three way” option, meaning companies can purchase industrial insurance from the Department of Labor and Industries, a private insurer, or they can self insure if they are large enough. Amanda Grindle (Saybr Contractors, Inc.) has been chosen as June’s Volunteer of the Month. Amanda serves on the Board of Directors and has just stepped up to be the Vice Chair of the Development and Education Council. She is assistant chair of the busy Safety Committee. Amanda is present at nearly all of the Rising Star breakfast meetings. Amanda has been an active participant on the ABC Green Council since its inception in 2008. She has helped arrange ABC Green Council Roundtable topics, speakers and given presentations on alternative fleet vehicles. She also participated in, and helped to plan, the first annual ABC Earth Day project in Kent.

The IRS has released the average premium for the small group market in each state for the 2010 tax year for purposes of computing the Code Sec. 45R tax credit for eligible small employers that make nonelective contributions toward their employee’s health insurance premiums. The premiums must be made under an arrangement that requires the employer to pay at least 50 percent of each participating employee’s premiums for coverage provided by a qualified health plan.
