CITC to Celebrate 25 Years of Training Tomorrow's Craft Professionals
Volunteer of the Month
Members on the Move
In the early 1980’s a small dedicated group of open shop contractors decided it was critical that they create a school to train open shop craft professionals. Coming from ABC, AGC and UCAW (utility contractors) they spent months developing the first-ever construction training center sponsored by “competing” trade associations. By solely focusing on craft training, they were able to create an organization, find instructors and staff, chose curriculum and start the school. The Construction Industry Training Council (CITC) is now a state licensed and nationally certified (National Center for Construction Education & Research) private vocational school and sponsors a state-approved apprenticeship program. CITC also provides continuing education for trainees, apprentices and journey-level workers, including on-line classes.
On June 25th, 25 years of success will be celebrated at the CITC graduation ceremonies at Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue. The evening will also include a salute to long-time CITC President Sandra Olson-Meyer, who is retiring later this year. If you would like to help celebrate our industry’s true success story, keep an eye on www.citcwa.com for details.

ABC’s Volunteer of the Month for May is Jeff Harding of Premier Builders. Jeff has been a member for five years and began participating in ABC the day he joined. He first started attending the monthly Framers Council meetings and was very passionate and supportive about what the group was doing to improve the industry. After attending the monthly meetings for awhile, Jeff volunteered to chair the council. Jeff continues to support the council and is always working hard on new ways to move the group forward and grow attendance and awareness.
Jeff was very supportive of the community service program through the Framers Council, Friends of Youth, where the members taught young boys how to build picnic tables and Make-A-Wish, where they built playhouses for children.
Jeff has participated in the Rising Star Program, is on the Board of Directors, and participates in the Development & Education Council as well as the Young Professionals Group.
Jeff is a very positive and enthusiastic person and brings energy and motivation to every meeting. You will most likely see Jeff at the monthly events and meetings. He attends every meeting and event he can, even though he is busy running his company. We can always count on Jeff when we need someone to step up to the plate and take on a project.
Jeff has been a great asset to ABC with his passion for the industry, his support of ABC and the time and energy he has contributed. Thank you, Jeff, for everything you have brought to ABC.
