NLRB Postpones Poster RequirementABC Announces its 2012 Excellence in Construction Awards Call for EntriesBizCon: An Opportunity to Look Ahead
The National Labor Relations Board has agreed to postpone the effective date of its employee rights notice-posting rule at the request of the federal court in Washington, DC after hearing a legal challenge regarding the rule. The Board’s ruling states that it has determined that postponing the effective date of the rule would facilitate the resolution of the legal challenges that have been filed with respect to the rule. The new implementation date is April 30, 2012.
Most private sector employers will be required to post the 11-by-17-inch notice on the new implementation date of April 30. The notice is available at no cost from the NLRB through its Website, which has additional information on posting requirements and NLRB jurisdiction.

ABC’s celebratory Excellence in Construction Awards Showcase is back for 2012! This tradeshow-like event is a way for ABC contractor members to showcase their best projects that were entered into competition, and then all the winning project teams will be recognized at a short awards ceremony during dinner. This format allows attendees to talk face-to-face with each project team, learning what challenges made their project unique. There will be ample time to look at the projects, ask questions of those involved, and network. ABC wants all of the membership to be included in the excitement and business growth opportunities of the awards program.
This year the Excellence in Construction Awards Showcase will be held March 28th at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. ABC is looking forward to making this event more beneficial to companies that enter projects, but also to those in the industry who want to find out more about the projects’ general contractors and subcontractors that have been selected as the best representations of merit shop construction. You may register online here.
Electronic entry forms were emailed to all contractor members in late December. The deadline for entries is February 27th. This year the entry form has expanded categories for subcontractors and more closely follows along with ABC National’s entry form, making it easier to enter nationally if your project wins at the chapter level. If you would like to find out more about the Excellence in Construction program, please contact Vice President of Communications & Events Victoria Klyce at (800) 640-7789.
