Northwest Wind & Solar Completes Residential Solar System Installation in Seattle’s Windermere NeighborhoodAsk A Professional: John Olano, Interface Financial Group
Northwest Wind & Solar has installed a 7.75 kW - photovoltaic (PV) solar electric system on a home in Seattle’s Windermere neighborhood. The system consists of 31 - 250-watt photovoltaic panels and 31 microinverters and will generate approximately 7,000 kilowatt hours of electricity per year.
The homeowners Jeff Harris and Judy Wasserheit had been looking at installing solar power for several years as they believe it is something good they can do for the environment. “This year, with decreasing prices and some subsidies, it became a break-even proposition,” said Harris. “Initially, we enjoyed just watching our meter run backwards. After the first full month, the system is working well and we got 25 percent more power than we had projected due to a mild, sunny month.”
Although people think of Western Washington as gray and cloudy much of the time, solar energy systems are highly viable and increasingly popular here as the price of electricity continues to escalate and as more environmentally conscious consumers recognize the benefits of them.
NW Wind & Solar was chosen as one of two installers for the upcoming Solarize Seattle Northeast. For more information on the Solarize Seattle Northeast project, go to:www.solarizewa.org/front-page/get-started/northeast

Question:
Why would a contractor use discount invoicing to help them with their working capital?
Answer:
Discount invoicing is an excellent alternative to bank financing. It gives contractors a consistent source of cash flow because they don't have to wait 45 - 60 days to get paid from their general contractors. By selling their progress billings, they receive an 80% advance up front which allows them to pay their employees and vendors on time and provides them with a steady source of capital to bid on more jobs.
