ABC OF WESTERN WASHINGTON SMOKES THE STEP COMPETITION (08/15/2008)
This year, 221 ABC/WW members submitted Safety Training and Evaluation Process (STEP) forms representing nearly a 68% return. This includes 10 platinum, 117 gold, 77 silver and 17 bronze recipients. The next highest ABC chapter return was only 29%.
STEP provides a company with an organized approach to analyze and further develop their safety and loss prevention program; provides a valid, objective method to measure safety program improvements; and provides your company with safety performance recognition that can be used as an important business development tool with clients.
A company evaluates its safety program in the 20 key components and enters its score for each section. Companies earning 120 or more points qualify for the gold level, 85-119 points is silver, and bronze is 50-84 points.
Companies wishing to submit for the platinum level must have a total point count of 125 and up and have earned either gold or platinum the prior year. They must also meet or exceed the loss ratio for their NACIS code, submit a copy of their OSHA 300A form and have their insurer sign a support statement. The 10 companies who have met all this criteria for 2008 are: Adept Mechanical Services, Inc.; CHG Building Systems, Inc.; Express Construction Co., Inc.; Marpac Construction, LLC; Pattison Construction Co.; Remco - Deacon, Inc.; S.D. Deacon Corp. of Washington; S.M.E., Inc. of Seattle; SEA CON, LLC; and Synergy Construction, Inc. Congratulations to all the STEP recipients!
