NEW MISSION AND CORE VALUES ADOPTED AT RETREAT (08/15/2008)
Mission and core value statements are key components to keeping an organization on track and maintaining its culture over time. This is especially true for associations where the leadership changes on a regular basis.
As part of this year’s planning conference, the board of directors adopted a new mission statement and developed five core value statements.
The new mission statement is: Associated Builders & Contractors of Western Washington advances the principles of free enterprise and merit in the construction industry and provides members and their employees with opportunities to succeed by promoting safe, quality, sustainable construction.
The core value statements are:
Integrity: Being truthful and true to our beliefs and values and making the highest level decisions that are fair, selfless and in the best interests of the community.
Knowing Member Needs: Having an intimate and involved understanding of the economic, political, and social climate of Western Washington and the ability to recognize and anticipate the opportunities and challenges of the environment of our members.
Customer Service: Providing innovative quality resources and solutions to satisfy the needs of members and industry constituents (e.g., prospective members, construction owners, legislators, regulators and the media)
Continuous Improvement: Utilizing an ongoing process to understand our organization’s strengths and weaknesses with the intention of sustaining an exceptional organization.
Adaptive: Observing and responding to industry dynamics and providing upto-date analysis and beneficial direction for the organization and its members.
