ABC MEMBERS MEET WITH UW STUDENTS (11/01/2008)
ABC members met with juniors and seniors of the University of Washington Construction Management Department on Monday, October 20th at Gould Hall on the UW campus.
This meeting gave ABC members an opportunity to meet and talk to the next generation of the construction industry. Over 20 students attended, as well as chair of the department, John Schaufelberger.
Member companies had an opportunity to discuss past and current projects they’ve worked on, what’s coming up in the future, and any internship or employment opportunities that may be available. Aran Buchan, ABC’s director of government affairs, was also on hand to discuss ABC and it’s role with UW and the construction industry.
UW and ABC have a long-standing relationship. The two entities help each other with their respective golf tournaments, students attend dinner meetings and other events, and students from UW enter into ABC’s annual student competition during the National Convention.
The University of Washington Construction Management Department was established in 1964. Their goal is to educate students, develop leaders and partner with the construction industry to provide advice, mentoring, research, and career opportunities for students.
