IT’S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN: MINIMUM WAGE GOES TO $8.55 (11/01/2008)
On January 1, 2009, the Washington state minimum wage will increase to $8.55 per hour. Per the requirements of Initiative 688 approved by voters in 1998, the Department of Labor and Industries recalculates the state’s minimum wage every September.

The law requires the minimum wage be adjusted each year according to the change in the federal consumer price index for urban wage earners and clerical workers during the 12 months ending each August 31. For more information on Washington’s minimum wage go to www.Wages.lni.wa.gov or call (360) 902-5316 or (866) 219-7321. For updated All-in-One poster, contact Stacie Elledge, (800) 640-7789.
