Students from the Univ. of Washington’s construction management program won first place in the annual Student Chapter Competition at this year’s ABC National Convention. The four-student team won first in project management/scheduling and safety, and assured their number one spot by giving the best oral presentation to a panel of judges. Only the five leading teams were chosen to give the presentations the second day of the competition.
Students from 20 schools across the nation worked in teams during an intense day-long competition, taking part in a bid day. Prior to the event, teams prepared a project schedule and developed a safety plan, then came prepared to take subcontractor bids every 15 minutes and work them into their overall estimate. Team members were Kevin Atkinson, Webb Curtis, Morgan Mann, and team leader Tristie Tajima.
The students will be honored at the April 22nd dinner meeting. Be sure to attend and congratulate them on their win.
