Once again, this year ABC of Western Washington is joining forces with the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) Washington State Chapter to give back to our community. This year’s project is Ryther Child Center in north Seattle. Ryther provides residential care and outpatient counseling for children in need of in-depth help as a result of abuse, chemical dependency, neglect, and social, emotional and behavioral problems. According to a staff person at Ryther, this is often kids “last hope.”
The center is on a ten-acre site with four cottages and several other buildings. There is much work to be done both on the exterior of the buildings and the grounds including painting, clearing of brush, new plantings, building a ropes course, and more.
ABC staff, along with other volunteers, are in charge of “volunteer services” for the day, including registration and dispatch, food and beverage, and first aid. We invite all ABC members to come and join in this worthwhile activity. It is a family event, so bring along your spouse and kids, too!
