ABC is in the process of expanding the Legislative Action Team (LAT). The LAT is a peer group for members that have a particular interest in legislation, elections, fundraising and labor issues. This group communicates by email and phone calls. Because it does not meet in person, it’s a great way to get involved with the government affairs aspect of your association without a huge time commitment.
Some of the more recent messages sent to the LAT were updates on the Employee Free Choice Act, President Obama’s executive order supporting project labor agreements on federal construction projects, and upcoming fundraisers for pro-business legislative candidates.
The LAT is also the main source of ABC’s grassroots network. All LAT members are encouraged to register with VoterVOICE, ABC’s grassroots software. It enables members to send fully editable, prewritten messages directly to their local legislator. You can register with VoterVOICE at www.abcwestwa.org.
