Join ABC staff, members and lobbyisrs for ABC's Day on Olympia on Thursday, February 19th from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on the Capitol campus. This is your opportunity to witness the committee process firsthand, hear a presentation from a highranking legislative official and take a tour of Washington’s Legislative Building.
The day will kick off at 10:30 a.m., when members will meet in the Columbia Room inside Washington’s historic Legislative Building. At 11:00 a.m., there will be a presentation from a top legislative official that focuses on the construction industry. Governor Christine Gregoire and Speaker of the House Frank Chopp have both been invited to speak.
At 12:00 p.m., a working lunch will be served. Legislators from your legislative districts will be invited to attend the lunch. This will be a great opportunity for you to discuss your business and legislative priorities with your senator or representative, as well as issues important to ABC and merit shop contractors.
At 1:00 p.m., members have the opportunity to attend committee meetings in process or visit the offices of their legislators.
Members also have the option to tour Washington’s Legislative Building. It was completed in 1928, and has withstood three major earthquakes. The domed building is comprised of more than 173 million pounds of stone, brick concrete and steel. It is the fourth tallest masonry dome in the world, rising 287 feet high.
A new feature to ABC’s Day in Olympia is the option to carpool to this event. Members will be meeting at the ABC office in Bellevue or at Southcenter Mall in Tukwila. Parking and additional information will be provided the week of the event.
