RENEW YOUR SAFETY ALLIANCE MEMBERSHIP NOW! (01/01/2009)
Take advantage of the Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) focused inspections for participants in the Associated Builders and Contractors’ Safety Alliance Program.

The DOSH Regional Directive (WRD) 2.25 which states in part … “When an inspection is initiated or at any time after that, the employer identifies itself as a participant in the ABC of Western Washington Safety Alliance and provides current documentation of that participation, the inspector is expected to treat the inspection as a focused inspection unless and until he or she determines that a comprehensive inspection is necessary…. A focused inspection is expected to include an assessment of any physical hazards related to fall protection, electrocution(high voltage and low voltage), overhead hazards and trenching and excavating….”

Anyone who received 120 or more points on the ABC STEP application may be eligible to participate in the Safety Alliance Program. Now is the time for 2008 participants to renew for 2009. For an application form or for more information about the ABC Safety Alliance Program, contact Ann Jarvis or Stacie Elledge at (800) 640-7789.
