SHOWCASE YOUR PROJECTS IN THE EXCELLENCE IN CONSTRUCTION AWARDS (01/01/2009)
Did you work on a unique project in 2008 that you want to show off to your peers in the industry? The Excellence in Construction Awards competition is on the horizon, Providing the perfect opportunity to showcase the project (or projects) that you and your team are particularly proud of.

If you have a project that was completed between January and December 2008, then it is eligible to enter into the 2009 Excellence in Construction Awards. Even more exciting, if your project wins an award at the chapter level (Western Washington), it is then eligible to enter into the National ABC Excellence in Construction Awards competition. This gives the winners bragging rights throughout the country, as well as a large amount of press coverage, features in the national magazine Construction Executive, on top of press attention at the local level. All winning entries into ABC of Western Washington’s Excellence in Construction Awards are featured in a special edition of the Daily Journal of Commerce, and may also be highlighted in Pacific Builder & Engineer, McGraw Hill Construction Publications, and other regional publications. In these competitive times, the more good press your company receives, the better for your business!

The panel of judges that determine the winning projects are experts from local architecture firms, trade publications, and the University of Washington’s School of Construction Management. Categories include commercial construction, industrial construction, mechanical construction, sustainable certified construction, electrical construction, historical restoration, interior improvement/renovation, multi-family construction, mixed-use construction, and specialty construction. The final categories are determined by the jury and are dependant upon the number and categories of the entries we receive.

The deadline for entering projects is Tuesday, February 17th at 4 pm. If you need help in putting your project entry binder together, you may utilize Victoria Klyce at the ABC office as a resource. She has past winning binders availablefor you to look through if you need inspiration, or just get an idea of what others have done with their submissions. Over the years she has collected bits of wisdom from the jurors on what they look for in a successful project entry, and she is happy to share that information with you.
