On Thursday, May 28th ABCmembers and staff made the trip to Emerald Downs in Auburnfor the second annual PAC fundraiser: ABC's Day at the Races!
This popular event raised $2,750. These funds go straight to ABC’s state political action fund, which funds candidates in Washington State that share ABC’s pro-business and open shop philosophy.
Synergy Construction, Inc. was the event sponsor, and as a benefit of the sponsorship, the fifth race will go down in the record books as the ABC/Synergy Construction Purse. The fifth was so close, even a photo finish couldn’t determine a winner! The race was declared a “dead heat” and horses Yes Bay and Fort Yates officially tied.
The horses weren’t the only winners that evening. Shane Skinner of Enterprise Fleet Management made a $1 trifecta bet (picking the top three horses in a race, in order) on the first race. His longshot pick won, and it paid out over $300! Chuck Grouws of CHG Building Systems, Inc., a seasoned veteran of the race track, hit two trifectas that evening!
All members who attended were treated to admission to the event, a program, a buffet dinner, drink tickets and other benefits. Even if you had never been to the race track before, an Emerald Downs handicapper visited members to explain how to bet and to make a few recommendations.
