Construction software developer Dexter + Chaney (www.dexterchaney.com) and FMI Corporation (www.fminet.com), the premier management-consulting firm serving the worldwide construction industry, have joined forces to offer a series of complimentary executive management webinars designed to help executives tackle real-world problems that plague construction companies every day. The first webinar, “Establishing a Competitive Advantage with Higher Labor Productivity,” is scheduled for 10 a.m. PDT on Thursday, October 15, 2009.
The October 15 and subsequent webinars are designed for presidents, vice presidents, operations managers and other managers of subcontracting firms, specialty contractors, road-building contractors and general contractors. Each 30- to 40-minute webinar will focus on developing and implementing a strategy to improve productivity and increase competitiveness. They will include a checklist of points to be considered and suggested “best practices” to implement the strategy discussed at the webinar, followed by a 10-minute question-and-answer period.
Gregg Schoppman, FMI principal who specializes in productivity and project management and leads FMI’s project management consulting practice, will conduct the October 15 session, which will address “how to win in today’s tough economy.”
According to FMI, “Becoming a low-cost producer is probably the best strategy to establish a competitive advantage. There is nothing you can do that will have a more significant impact on your competitiveness and bottom line than to improve productivity. Contrary to popular belief, productivity is not a field problem, but rather an important management and leadership issue. Whether it’s your people, your systems, or a combination of both that needs improvement, the change has to come from the top in order to have a significant and sustainable impact.”
