ABC members met at Foster Golf Links in Tukwila on the evening of Friday, September 11th for the third annual Glow Ball tournament. This popular fundraiser raised over $2,200 for ABC’s State Political Action Committee fund, which contributes campaign funds directly to candidates in Washington State that share ABC’s merit shop, probusiness philosophy.
Golfers first enjoyed a buffet dinner on the patio at the Billy Baroos restaurant overlooking the golf course on a warm, clear evening. The dinner was sponsored by Nuprecon, LP. After dinner, members headed out to their respective holes. Each golfer was provided with clear golf balls, along with a “glow stick” insert that illuminated the balls. Pins were lit with flashing lights and glowing orbs lit the tee boxes, but other than that it was up to the skill of the golfer and good golf instincts to avoid the scattered trees and bunkers.
At 7:30 pm, a signal flare shot into the sky indicated the shotgun start. Glowing golf balls dotted the skyline, and the 2009 tournament was underway!
The team of Eric Maughan (Nuprecon, LP) and John Bledsoe (Wells Fargo), along with Adam Lasky (Oles Morrison Rinker & Baker LLP), shot the lowest score of the day and each received a gift certificate to Puetz Golf Centers for their outstanding play. Pam Stewart (Synergy Construction, Inc.) dropped her drive on the 18th hole about 10 feet from the cup and won the “closest to the pin” contest, and went home with a dozen golf balls and a gift certificate to the pro shop!
In addition to the buffet dinner, each golfer received drink tickets courtesy of Corstone Contractors, LLC. CHG Building Systems, Inc. sponsored the prizes, and Olympian Precast, Inc. sponsored the glow-in-the-dark supplies. ABC would like to thank all the players and sponsors for their generosity.
