Congress and the President put a new law into effect on January 22, allowing taxpayers who make contributions to charities providing relief in Haiti for earthquake victims to deduct those on their 2009 tax return if they are made before March 1. Normally charitable donations must be made by Dec. 31 to be claimed on that year's tax forms. For more information, click
