The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Aug. 6
released a memoannouncing changes to the OSHA Outreach Training Program for the 10- and 30-hour courses.
Under the new policy, 10-hour and 30-hour courses must limit training to no more than 7.5 hours per day meaning a 10-hour course will take a minimum of two days and a 30-hour course will take a minimum of four days.
Any training courses that do not meet these requirements will not be recognized and students will not receive completion cards. Outreach Trainers will be allowed to seek approval of courses that last longer than 7.5 hours per day only in extenuating circumstances, but OSHA will not count cost savings, trainer availability, time limits or missing work as extenuating circumstances.
This policy is effective immediately, but OSHA is extending a grace period for full implementation until Dec. 31.
