WASHINGTON ADDS 3,000 CONSTRUCTION JOBS (11/24/2010)

John Gillie, The News Tribune

Washington's construction industry gained 3,000 jobs between September and October, new figures from Associated General Contractors show.

That 3 percent gain puts Washington within the top ranks of the 29 states that gained construction jobs in that period, said the AGC.

Arizona was best among the states in percentage of construction job increases with a 4.4 percent, or 5,000-job, gain. Texas gained the most jobs, 8,800 or 2.3 percent. Washington tied with Illinois for third place with 3,000 construction jobs added.

Twenty states reported construction job losses in the same period. Minnesota lost the highest percentage of jobs, 2.7 percent or 2,300 jobs.
