Historic Seattle announced the winners of its 2011 Preservation Awards, which acknowledge excellence in preserving and protecting historic buildings and sites.
The winners are:
Best rehabilitation/restoration: Fire Stations 2, 17 and 41 in Seattle and Lake Wilderness Lodge in King County
Best preservation practice: Window restoration at University Heights Community Center in Seattle
Living landmark: Ronald F. Murphy, co-founder of SMR Architects
Community advocacy: Friends of Naval Air Station Seattle Historic District
Preserving neighborhood character: Melrose Market
Community partnership: Hat ‘n' Boots
The awards ceremony and reception is from 5:30 to 8 p.m. May 10 at Talaris Conference Center, 4000 N.E. 41st St., Seattle. University of Washington Architecture Professor Jeffrey Ochsner will present the awards, and landscape architect Rich Haag will speak.
