The Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS) is an international
system adopted by the United Nations which provides an effective, standardized means of communicating hazard information worldwide. Employers need to train their employees on the labeling elements and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) format . This class will cover employer responsibilities, how to minimize workplace hazards, written program requirements, review WAC (Washington Administrative Code) 296-809, review GHS System and pictograms, how to read Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), hazardous material Identification system, how to control or eliminate the hazards, PPE requirements, storage requirements, employer/employee requirements, hazardous atmospheres and air monitoring requirements, and signs and symptoms of exposure.
